To Live For

It is precisely because men can live without something that they do live for that thing. Men do not live for food because they cannot live without food; although they may live for delicacies, since the continuation of life does not depend on the consumption of delectable dishes. Men live for pleasures because they can live without them. No one lives for necessities. Necessities are what you die for.
